Xiaomi released its first Mi band in the year 2015, since then it has been considered to be one of the best affordable fitness band available in the market. It does a lot of  things right, and that’s what makes it so popular in the market. Each and every year the company does very little to achieve their goals and this year is no different as well.

Xiaomi has kept their formula quite simple- it’s trackers have always offered the basics for a fractional price of competing products. Even this year Xiaomi Mi band 5 is a small step-up from the Mi band 4, as the features in Mi band 5 are way better than its previous generations. Well, let’s take a deeper look and see what Xiaomi’s fitness band has to offer from its previous generations.

Mi Band 5 vs Mi Band 4 comparison

For starter’s, the Xiaomi Mi band 5 has some unique upgraded features from 2019’s Mi band 4 such as the upgraded design and new health features to keep us motivated.

Xiaomi Mi band 5 and the Mi band 4 look quite similar at a first glance, but the new fitness tracker is actually a bit larger. It has 20% larger AMOLED display of 1.1 inches and supports 100% of the P3 color gamut. It’s trackers have always offered the basics for a fraction of the price of competing products. It gets pretty bright outdoors as well, but keep in mind it does not have any ambient sensor so you might have to adjust the brightness manually.

Because Mi band 5 is larger in size, you might not be able to use Mi band 4 straps with your new device.

Mi band 5 the new battery champ

The Mi band 5 is the new battery champ- not as much as compared to last year’s band, but it can last for 13 days on a normal use. You can get up to 20 days of battery life if you take power saving precautions like turning off the heart rate monitoring, raise to wake and sleep tracking. Regardless of that, you will be able to wear your Mi band 5 for well over a week without worrying about charging. And now you don’t need to remove the straps from the device for it

The Mi band 5 comes with a lot of good features. It relies on the same sensors which were found in its predecessor to deliver its fitness tracking features, namely accelerometer and gyroscope motion sensors, plus a heart rate monitor. There is no build-in GPS but you can use GPS from your phone for any kind of activities.

You can view basic fitness tracking status for the band itself or you can go into the status menu to see more. There you can get to know more about calories burnt, steps taken, total time etc.

Mi band comes with its own companion app called Mi fit, which is compatible with android and IOS. The app lets you customize the watch face and adjust the band’s settings. The app has a dedicated section for all your daily activities, sleep tracking, heart rate monitor and many more. Mi fit can sometimes feel a bit busy, but that’s my personal opinion.

Overall Xiaomi Mi band 5 is one of the best fitness tracker considering its price in India (Rs2499/-). It has a great, AMOLED display, which makes viewing your data a joy and pleasure. Surprisingly, it has a rich tracking support for a range of activities. The watch itself is waterproof though it does not have NFC supports for payment, but considering its price range its ok. Mi band 5 will be launched on 1st October 2020 and it will be sold in India on Amazon and also on Mi’s official online as well as offline store.

  1. Woah! I’m really enjoying the template/theme of this site.
It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s tough to get that “perfect balance” between usability and visual appeal.

I must say you have done a superb job with this.

Additionally, the blog loads extremely fast for me on Firefox.
    Outstanding Blog!
